Canuck, Yankee, Aussie, Kiwi, Scot, Brit, Swede etc etc are all terms of
endearment in my book.
As a people I like them and call them by their nickname. Racist labels I
don't use but the label Canuck I wear like a badge of honour. Like Joe
Canadian- I am Canadian.
For those that fear a Canuck takeover, don't sweat it, we already took over
the music industry, the movies, the clay mines and now we even get to
rewrite the grandfather of American ceramics- Danny Rhodes. Yes, the Rhodes
family have asked Robin Hopper to rewrite his old ceramics bible. Word on
the street has it that there will be lots of pics of Canuck pots. Hopper
will do an excellent job! Danny will be honoured and smile down from the
clay mine in the sky.
When the Mayor wanted a ceramic engineer to support his CM article he
picked our man Tommy Buck. Good choice.
Clayart is living proof that we potters are members of a world community.
Nice to know there is a "Welcome" mat at potters doorsteps all over the
world.
I'm feeling so proud of being a Canuck right now, I'm e-mailing Hopper to
suggest he rename the Rhodes book "Stoneware and Porcelain, Eh!"
cheers,
Tony

Tony,
That is great news that Robin will rewrite the Stoneware and Porcelain book.
My copy is so old that its crumbling. Maybe there will be even colored
pics of Canadian pots
to show those subtle changes in brown. maybe even reds!
Best wishes,
Marcia

Rick: Was a Brit. Immigrated like most of us with the exception of the
First nations people.
The Brits didn't want him so they sent him here.

If Robin Hopper is to rewrite the Daniel Rhodes Book, how will they be =
classified. They will not be reprints, which would preserve the original =
intention and prose of the author. They could hardly be called new =
editions unless it is made very clear what the intention of the =
publisher is, for example to incorporate additional and clearly =
attributable chapters about new technology or science or replace dated =
illustrations with those of recent works. So I seems to me that this is =
a totally new book about stoneware and porcelain.

Only time will tell. But it's not the first time someone has revised
and updated someone else's book. I have a 3rd edition of Parmelee's
book "Ceramic Glazes". It was revised by Cameron Hardman Ph.D. dated
1973. The Second edition was revised and edited by E. D. Lynch.
Parmelee died i 1947.
