I would like to thank Kickwheel Pottery Supply in Atlanta, Georgia,
who got to me, in Chicago (with warnings that it wasn't wise, but I
insisted), a thousand pounds of clay, in December. They did
everything they could to insure that the trucking company got the clay
to me without it freezing, and it didn't.
It is a STUPID thing (unless you have to, which I really don't) to
order clay to be delivered from across several states in the beginning
of what has been predicted to be the coldest winter in years, knowing
that it will take 2 days. But I was persistent, and Kickwheel was
great, dealing with this difficult customer, with her unrealistic
expectations. They warned me of everything I should expect, good and
bad---and very bad. John at Kickwheel was wonderful about trying to
wait for a warm pocket, which unfortunately never really came, and
then trying to make sure the clay got to me with as little frozen
damage as possible (and there turned out to be none).
We wound up picking the clay up from the trucking company because
they wouldn't deliver the same day it came into Chicago, but we were
only able to do that with Kickwheel's intervention, as the trucking
company didn't even want to unpack the truck that day, even though
Kickwheel sent it on a *HOT*HOT*HOT*HOT* rush.
It's a wonderful thing when a supplier will work with you even when
you're being unreasonable.
Thank you, Kickwheel.
"You see, Momma never told her "don't climb the wall; it is too high
and dangerous." She said "If you climb the wall, do it well. And if
you fall down, I will tend you with all my love and care, but you must
accept the pain." NDJ
