Thanks Jan & Snail,

Your points are well taken. If I forgot to mention it, I apologize: These=20
tiles are boiled in a "pasta pot" - a double boiler with holes in the top po=
t=20
to make certain that all tiles are evenly bathed in boiling water. After=20
boiling for the requisite 5 hours, I allowed the tiles to cool somewhat, ran=
=20
cool water into the reservoir of water covering the tiles until the tiles=20
felt cool. After roughly 20 minutes, I removed the tiles from the water, an=
d=20
dried off the excess water. (I did not observe any rapid drying in my=20
recollection.) The tiles felt cool to the touch. I weighed them within the=
=20
next few minutes. For clay that was clearly more pourous (KPS #231 @ =E2=
=88=8604(ox)=20
and a special formula paper clay @ =E2=88=869(ox)), I have not seen this beh=
avior.

If anyone standardly runs these tests, please let me know what you see. =20
Thanks again!
