Sorry for the late reply to the hard brick fast freddie question. I have
built several and a couple were out of hard brick. The ones built with
softies can be fired in around 6 hours and the hard brick ones are about 3
x that . We used to fire ours in 16-18 hours. I build it out of hards to
get more flashing. My thinking was a longer firing = more flashing. This
firebox design does not produce heavily ashed or flashed pots. I think
this kiln is best suited for glazed ware that is woodfired. Junkyard Dawg
has the right pallette for this kiln. Some call him the gangster of love
cause he fires to old Steve Miller tunes. Put a load of unglazed pots in
the fast freddie and they will be a variation of a boring brown.
Cheers,
Tony
