bison tools & wish list

Hi Clayarters,

This is to the potters on this list, who still have a wish list and
who want to add on a terrific item. You may remember a fairly recent thread
about Bison trim tools. Well, having started that thread, I decided to give
myself an early Christmas present and Philip Poburka was kind enough to
send me his catalog. I can tell you that choosing one tool was really hard,
as there are so many shapes and sizes, but I finally picked out one. It
arrived today, and I put it to work immediately. I cannot begin to tell you
the difference between my other trim tools and the Bison. It is wonderful.
It fits into my hand, as if he had made it specifically for me. It has a
wonderful balance and trims oh so smoothly. The Clayarters, who are already
proud owners of Bison tools, had nothing but praise, and they were not
exaggerating. It is a prince among trim tools. So, if you still have
someone who will give you a present for the holidays......you know where to
go and what to ask for.

In case anyone did not take the information down when it was
posted, Philip Poburka's e-mail is: INTERNET:pdp1@earthlink.net

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone on the list
all the best for the holidays. I hope that 2001 will be a wonderful year,
and look forward to exchanging ideas and information, hearing about
wonderful new developments, and learning more and more about just about
everything to do with clay.

Thanks for all the help and support.

Best wishes and Happy New Year.

Veena

Hi Veena:

I have to second your stout praise of Bison tools. I bought two of them a few
months back -- a heavier and lighter version of the same shape and they are
wonderful.
I think everyone should buy themselves at least one Christmas present each
year! Good for you!'

Regards,
June

Do you know what is worse than WISHING for a Bison Tool???...

Having your TWO wishlist Bison Tools delivered to the door and having your
wife tell you that they have to be wrapped and set under the tree until we
open our gifts on Christmas day.
Lord, give me strength...

Happy Holidays to all.

KEEP CENTERED and warm.

I have left my copy of the Bison Tool catalog lying around for others to
see (hoping they get the hint!) and I have to say that the catalog
itself is a work of art! Came in an envelope with writing like the
finest calligraphy....can't wait to check my stocking this year!

obviously you are a male and thought you could buy something for yourself
between thanksgiving and christmas. don't you guys ever learn. we females
have no idea what to buy a guy. whether he is 6 months old or 86years old.
you give no hints and just go buy yourself what you want. the only recourse
we have is to grab those things and wrap them up.
merry christmas anyway

You got that right.

My wife gave me emphatic instructions around Thanksgiving. "Don't buy a
single thing for your self between now and Christmas!"

I took that to mean, don't buy anything for myself that she and the kids
would possibly come up with as a present. Therefore I have two new
music CD's (She's never in the car when I listen to these guys on the
radio so how could she know?) She might not even know they are "new" :)

Then there are the two pottery books I ordered from Steven Branfman and
the two Ian Currie books from Australia......

So out of curiosity yesterday, as we crossed the last gift off of our
joint shopping I asked, "so you told me not to buy anything for myself,
did you have anything in particular in mind?" She said, "No, I don't
know what you want......."
Never mind that I keep buying DVD movies and we don't have a DVD
player......

When I give her what I think are hints, it never seems to work. Well,
accept for once. Three years ago she asked me out right what I wanted
and I said a pottery book would be good. She found a catalogue that had
a wide selection in it. I circled all that I thought would be OK. She
and the kids got me every circled book! I told her if I had known
that's what they were going to do I would have circled more.....

Incidentally, I had my wife read this post with the express purpose of
being able to say, "See, it's not just me, it's a guy thing!"
