David,
Geil builds great kilns! They are amazing. They go against many "laws"
of kiln building but fire safely, efficiently and evenly. If nothing
else just examine one and see. The ports, exit flue and chimney are all
too small, according to the book, but they fire perfectly!
I do think building kilns is great but I have used great store bought
kilns, like Geil, Bailey and even Alpine, and they have there place. I
actually have cone to love my Alpine updrafts. When you learn to fire
them they are excellent.
