and same glaze with Frit 169
Ron Roy experimental C6 glaze Gerstley Borate subbed with Frit 169
Tested on mid range, iron flecked stoneware, fired to 1220c, oxidation.
Experiments Glaze G.B.
20 G.Borate
5 Wolastionite
15 Dolomite
25 G200 Spar (used local spar)
15 EPK
20 Silica
Resulted in clear, semi gloss, stable glaze. No discernable difference =
where double dipped.
Experimental Glaze Frit 169
20 Frit 169
6 Walostonite
19 Dolomite
4 G200 Spar (used local spar)
25 Silica
Resulted in clear, semi gloss, stable glaze. Some white cyrstallization =
under lip
and where glaze was thickest. Otherwise very similar to above result.
Personal
This is an extremely exciting trial for me, as it shows that I can sub. =
my frit with G.B. Ron showed me
that he added some MgO, reduced the KNaO and got the Al2O3 and SiO2 the =
same, .giving similar results to the original=20
receipe result. With the analysis of my frit and and calculating some =
adjusments, anyone can reproduce any of the
good results I get with the frit 169 I use. I think this is very =
exciting.
I have made numerous tests on G.B. receipes, using a 1:1 sub. with my =
frit for G.B. and those results are all good. =20
But here Ron illustrates with the above test how close he can come in =
ratio/expansion/weight to the original receipe. =20
Thanks for your help Ron. =20

Hello Alisa, When you have so much dolomite you can add about 0.5 cobalt
(Whatever) and get nice violet
