pumice and succulent plants

Capt. Mark:
Yes, Yes, undeniably yes! I have had a love affair going on with cacti and
succulents for the last bazillion years.
My six foot windows (I live in an old house) have shelves at the top of each
to hold cacti and succulents. They are so incredibly awesome......one day at
a building supply I even broke down a bought some grafted ones (I
know...that makes most purists cringe.) But the interesting thing is that
when one is grafted on top of another, the supply of nutrients to the top
one is unnatural, and causes atypical cell division. The top part ends up
becoming an unpredictable sculptural form due to the abnormal growth. I
have one that looks like a fish, another that looks like the torso of
Madonna. Of course, cacti and succulents are unbelievably sculptural on
their own! They really don't need ANY help in that department! I guess
that's why I love them so much. Plus, they thrive on neglect. And when my
hectic life whirls out of control and I forget to water, they hang in there.
I have not used pumice in a soil mix...I don't recall having seen it in
Indiana along with the soil mixes....where can I order it?

Thanks for the info!

And forgive me, Capt. Mark, but my succulents aren't getting diddly squat
for Christmas!

Carol, in a ch-ch-ch-ch-chillier than chilly, downright freeze your butt off
on Christmas Indiana
