worn bat-pin holes in bats

This should not cause any problems. On so many bats the holes are a bit
sloppy, so I have never relied on them to hold the bat secure. I simply
place a dozen or so very small dots of clay on the wheelhead in a circle in
line with the bat pins. I smear on small dabs of clay, approximately equal
to a ball 1/2" in diameter, and then flatten them with the heel of my hand.
They should then be about an inch in diameter, and no more than 1/8" high.
Put your bat on the pins in a normal fashion, and whack the center with your
fist. The bat will never come off when you don't want it to, even when
doing a hard pull on a large vessel, and it will not shift around at all.
When you are done throwing, just pry it gently with an old screwdriver, and
the bat will come right off. You can use the same dots all day long - just
moisten them periodically with a sponge or spray bottle.
Good luck -
