Well, I agree, Ned, after the event :-( The handle was obviously
well stuck to the pot at that point. But the area was the area into
which the vinegar had soaked. <<

I just use straight (so to speak) vingar whenever assembling joints,
points of srain or otherwise. I find the trick is in using less than you
think you need. If it's "soaking" it's too much. For me, the surface
should just look slightly wet. I don't even score. Boy am I lazy! ;-)

And for Ababi, that trick with bicarb in the slip then spraying with
lemon or vinegar is pretty cool. Interesting, my friend Kobbi (another
israeli) showed it to me. Never heard of anyone else doing it.
