Dear Kate, what a lovely, heartfelt, thoughtful, genuine tribute to one
of my heroes, too ..... in fact, my first hero in pottery. I thought
perhaps Mackenzie impressed me so because his was the first potter's
biography that I'd read ... the first potter's philosophy of function
and art that had been presented to my eyes and heart... that being
"first" created a standard by which I judged other pottery. But the
sentiments you expressed echoed in my being, also, and said, "Yes,
that's it! Kate has captured it ... beautifully and precisely." Thank
you.
Seems like I'm taking a lot of space lately so will add my comments here
about Tommy Humphries' loving memories of his "potter's family tree."
I'm sure you were all as moved as I. Tommy has written a touching,
humble memoir full of respect and love for the potters who preceded him.
Thank you, Tommy.
Joyce
In the Mojave grateful once again to have stumbled into such a caring
group ...... one willing to take that "risk" of exposure of one's inner
self and chance expressing and sharing such deep emotions.
