contrarian thinking -- why no silicon carbide in electric kilns?

Hi,

I was just repeating to myself the mantra handed down from somewhere that
silicon carbide shelves have no place in electric kilns and stopped to
rethink it.

Why not? so what if the kiln shelf conducts from one point on a wire to
another? It won't harm the pots and anybody risking electrical shock when
the kiln is working is looking at worse problems from the burns.

Am I not seeing something here?
