Cheryl Hanley was asking who works with crystalline glazes

Hi Cheryl,

I'm enamored of macrocrystalline glazes and am getting reasonable results at
firing #8 at cone 6. I suggest you absorbe Diane Greber and Peter Ilsley's
books on the topic. There was a good article by William Schran about two
CLaytimes issues back that was quite good.

If you have a computer controller, it's fairly trivial to get crystals but
getting the right shape to show them off and catchment systems can get
arduous. I've been using viscous glazes as retarding agents, with the
benefit of seeing the flowing glazes marching down the stiff glaze
surface... and gluing the pot to the catcher!

Herbert Sanders (if you can locate one)who all wrote books on the topic.
There was an article by William Schran in one of the 2000 autumn CLaytimes
issues back that was quite good -- I'm using the MFE glaze he published to
pretty good effect.

seeing the flowing glazes marching down the stiff glaze surface leaving
crystal encrusted interface lines.
