I would be interested in any feedback on my new web site. It shows my
painting as well as my clay sculpture. Just click on the sculpture if
you don't want to see the painting. The site is www.nancyfarrell.com

Hi Nancy,

What a delight it was to visit your website! At first glance, I thought I
was going to prefer the sculpture over the painting, but now I'd have to say
it was a close call. Your sculptures are wonderful, and the figurative
paintings are so much more than just a study for the 3D pieces...(which
sometimes appears to be the case when 3D work is shown with 2D work)..I felt
a sense of mystery and intrigue with your paintings. And although the figure
is a common denominator between your sculpture and your painting, your 2D
use of it talks to me in a different language. Your color sensibility is
vibrant and exciting! At first I gravitated toward the figurative paintings
and didn't feel pulled toward the landscape paintings, but on closer
inspection, the landscapes are juicy and very pleasing to me. They reminded
me of an experience I had knitting a full length coat using Kaffe Fassett's
"Glorious Knits" concept. Are you familiar with him?
Whereas traditional knitting recommends the use of a single dye lot of yarn
to maintain consistency of color in a garment, Fassett encourages the
knitter to mix dye lots and blend yarns to create gradations of color which
lead to a more playful result.
Though many of his designs are based on geometry, his book champions the
juxtaposition of contrasting colors. It was a real treat to view your
paintings up close (cyberspacically).....it made me appreciate your ability
to separate an image from its reflection by manipulating intensity...... the
computer is a tease, I wish I could see them in person.
All my babble about the paintings does not mean that I liked them more than
the sculpture.....the 3D figures are very well done and psychologically
compelling.....geez, Nancy all your work looked great.

Nancy,

I just visited your web site. Your work is wonderful. Its straight forward
and makes a very strong statement. I especially liked The Searchers. I think
I could get lost in the drama of the piece as well as those wonderful colour
patterns from the smoke firing.

Just a few comments about the site. I visited with Netscape 6 even though it
wasn't recommended. It worked fine although the main page took longer to
load then I normally like. I waited because I liked the bits I could see.
The main page looked great when it was up. The page links hidden in images
made me pause. I had to make assumptions as to where they were and that's
not something I prefer to do. The image galleries worked fine. the images
loaded well and were clear. I didn't notice any problems in moving around.
Congratulations.
Thank you for letting us know about your new web site.
