There was an article in today's L.A. Times about an auction of British art
pottery at Sothebys. It's the collection of two men from California who
mostly collected British pottery from the late 18oo's. If you're interested
in that sort of thing, and like lots of pictures, go to www.sothebys.com and
then click on the Harriman Judd collection. There's lots of faience and
Minton-ware. There's also work by a pottery that was new to me - the Martin
Brothers, which I really enjoyed looking at - good intergration of form and
naturalistic decoration without being too overdone, eventhough it is pretty
busy. You have to get to about lot 200 to find the Martin Bros.
