I wanted to share something I stumbled over recently. It's software
called Advanced JPEG Compressor. It is fabulously effective at
compressing .jpg files without compromising appearance. I
compressed all the photos on my website using this program, and
now the site loads in a fraction of the time. Check it out. Most of
my photos used to be about 50k, and now many of them are under
10k.
You can download an evaluation copy of this software (does
everything except let you save the compressed files), and then if
you like it, registering for $25 gives you the fully-functional software.
I have no connection with this company besides being amazed at
the effectiveness of their software.
