Dear Clayart Friends:
I've had a Brent CXC wheel for six years. Recently, the wheel has started to make a
high pitched squeaky noise when I'm throwing. This squeal is very annoying. I was
wondering if I needed to lubricate the belt. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

Hi, Bridget
I don't remember how to fix the squeak, and I haven't yet experienced this
problem with my Brent B. However, I do remember the topic subject line as it
was last discussed on Clayart referred to a "cricket" sound. If you feed
this into the archives, you'll find loads of helpful advice.

Chances are your squeaks are the result of the brushes. Don't lubricate the
best. It will never need to be "lubricated."
To fix the squeak, remove the circular cover that encloses the brushes. With
you air compressor, blow out all the accumulated carbon residue from the
brushes. The apply a small amount of WD 40 (spray) onto the area where the
brushes contact the comutator of the motor. Squeak begone!Reassemble the
protective cover and you are done!

Squirt some WD40 under there! Over 4+ years of making production pottery
(10,000 pieces each year), I always took time in January to lubricate the
belt of my CXC and haven't heard one peep...or squeak.
