If a method could be done in a single firing all the better. For the curious
the "tiles" are called tsa-tsa. Thanks for any suggestions. Ed

On non-functional work I have had good luck with patinas made from 3134 frit
mixed with oxides including tin oxide, copper carbonate, iron oxide, and
rutile, singly or in combination. It only takes a miniscule amount of the
3134 to lock the oxides on the wares. I like a patina made from one part
3134 to six parts tin oxide to three parts rutile. We used this on lowfire
wares and called it "dirt stain." When brushed or sprayed on and then
sponged off the high spots it looked like the accumulated dirt of the
millenia in the cracks and recesses. If you are firing to cone 6 you will
want to cut back on the 3134 frit, or possibly use 3124.
Good luck -

Ed,

At cone 6 I have used a wash of lithium and redart. I only tested it once
and never got back to it so I don't have a recipe or proportions, but I
liked the effect a lot and wanted to do more experiments.
