Jean,
Thank you for the nice comments about Axner Co.=20
While I am an investor in Axner's, I do not participate in the =
day-to-day business; at another level I wish to be considered a fellow =
potter on this listserve and not as an active advocate for Axner Co., =
which in private I am when I ocassionally reply off list to individuals =
asking questions. Most commonly, I try to limit on line comments on the =
listserve to pottery making and not business Sometimes I will preface a =
remark with an acknowledgement that I am an associate of Howard's so no =
one gets blindsided. Recently, there have been several comments =
concerning Axner's and I would like to make just a couple of personal =
observations rather than business ones concerning Howard. For one thing, =
I take great comfort in Howard doing business honestly; if Howard is =
reluctant to break government rules even at the cost of some business =
lost, I feel more secure that he treats me as a business partner =
honestly. On reflection, I would always rather do business with =
principled persons that ones that act in a less than honest manner. I =
know no one likes to pay taxes. For myself, I have known Howard now for =
nearly 8 years and I have never known him to be anything but kind, =
considerate and highly ethical. You also know someone by the company =
they keep; numbered among Howard's friends and business consultants are =
people like Ferris Delkic [ITC], Nils Lou, Ron Roy, and Tony Hansen to =
mention only a few that often have input to this listserve. Personally, =
I am honored to count Howard as a friend and business partner. Now back =
to potting.

OK, so someone has a "negative" or not satisfactory experience with a
vendor, in this case, Axner.

I really must ask why was it necessary to post this experience to the list?
What did you hope to gain?

The world is not a perfect place, and I am sure that the small niche that
ceramics occupies in it is also far from perfect.

Why did you not exhaust every possibility to rectify the situation before
posting it to the list? I am sure that Axner has many many satisfied
customers and yes indeed, it is unformtunate that you did not have a
satisfactory experience.

We deal with hundreds of vendors that range from small mom and pop type
operations to larger multinational businesses. In my over 30 years of this,
as best as I can remember, every problem was resolved satisfactorily on a
one-to one basis.

I work with many customers in the giftware, artware, and tabletop
industries. I also work with potters, many of whom are on this list. I try
and treat everyone with respect and kindness. Nn return, it is exactly what
I get back.

I am truly sorry you had an unsatisfactory experience ordering from Howard.
I have known Howard for many years, and he is certainly on my nice guy list.
Understand I have no financial involvement with Axner Company. In fact, I
really don't buy anything from him. No, to correct, I use to buy Graber Pads
from them. We did have a problem. I called Howard. He resolved it quickly,
happily, and I consider Howard a friend as well as a consumate professional
in his business.
