Dear Cindi Anderson,
I recently put out a query about excessive bubbling in some of the =
members of a set of glazes I was working on recently.
After a fair amount of discussion which raised solutions which were not =
possible in my firing situation, I worked through the chemistry and came =
to the conclusion that bubble generation was due to Oxygen outgassing in =
a strongly reducing firing.
This puts a new spin on the theory of oxidation and reduction adopted as =
fact by the potting fraternity. But if you follow the ideas through =
industrial ceramics literature, there is support for this notion.
