What Valice did not mention, was that she
included making tiles for The International
Potters' Path with some of the inmates in two
different state prisons. Good work too.
A lot of thought went into those designs to
represent their country... Everything from a
three tile Golden Gate Bridge to one with a
collage of Native American images and symbols...
Pretty impressive on a 10x10 cm (4x4 inch)
surface.
They compare very favourably to tiles made by
some professional potters.
Humbling thought, really... "There but for the
grace of God go I"
Would we be able to do such concentrated and
creative work in their environment? With very
few tools/equipment and few basic skills? Just
allowed into class once a month and only if we
are "good"?
