Hi Vikki & Libby

I purchased a bailey st100 a month ago and could not be happier with my
purchase. after using a randal kickwheel for three years it was like moving
into a house with running water LOL. Since my shop has inadequate heating
for the winter months, i throw in my laundry room. the ease of cleanup is
great. the wheel is very quiet and the footpedal really is very responsive.
my friend has a brent which i have used on occasion, but in my book, does
not compare with the bailey. i had to call company for some troubleshooting
as well when it first arrived and they held my hand through the whole phone
call LOL (miss mechanic i am not nor do i care to be).
so thats only my .02 worth.

Hi Bonnie...glad to hear you are trying to work again Monday...hope the
fracture is healed and all goes well. My new Bailey wheel arrived much
sooner than I expected and I want you and the list to know it is set up to
the specifications of my physical therapist and I love it. The UPS man
brought it INTO the studio!! Everything perfect. The smoothest, quietest
most sensitive foot pedal I have ever used; the only one similar that I
recall was a Soldner I once tried. The base is very solid and heavy,
belieing the
LOOK of the ( heavy ) white plastic counter tray. I purchased the St 50, the
unit one has to assemble. The wheel head is 12" instead of 13", but I knew I
could change that by adding a larger bat since all counter trays are the
same size on all models. There is no drain hole in this model but I can
easily drill a hole and install a drain if I choose, HOWEVER it took longer
to assemble than the few minutes quoted and I was not strong enough to turn
the heavy frame over or lift it on or off the workbench. I also needed help
easing the four plastic belts over the drive pulleys. All in all, not a job
for a little old lady alone. But I am more than satisfied with the product
and the service;

Oh yes, the rim of the counter tray is a great help when centering...Much
better than bracing against my rib cage, now that I cannot use my thighs as
I did on my Shimpo. Also, my Randall/Jensen plaster bat system fits
perfectly, and raises the wheel head above the counter rim for large
platters, etc.

The cost was $630 including delivery from New York to Florida, plus $36 for
the short leg extenders... ( bricks from Home depot would have been cheaper
still!)

All in all, I am a happy camper. May the Easter Bunny bless you. It
did me! Lori in New Port Richey, Fl.

The set screw problem is a real pain. A friend and I took a bailey
(1 yr old) that was slipping and modified it to resemble the Stuart wheel.
Remove wheelhead and 3/4 inch down the shaft drill a hole thru and install
a rollpin. On the head , cut a pair of slots wide enough and deep enough so
that the head will slide on and off. It works great, and now it's easy to
clean the front of the pan.----Stuart heads are removable and
interchangeable. Saw the ones at NCECA, and loved the idea, and already
knew what we would do to the bailey wheel. Called Bailey to suggest this
idea, and they weren't interested(but they should be!!!)Cliff in Myrtle

i have two bailey's and one brent b..........
all things considered, i would trade the brent for another bailey in a
heartbeat.....
don't get me wrong, the brent is a good wheel, i just prefer the cleanup of
the bailey and the beautifully smooth foot pedal-it really is a great foot
pedal

Hello,

I'm looking for an electric pottery wheel. I was deciding between the =
Pacifica GT400 and the Brent B when I saw an ad for Bailey's wheels. The =
ST100 which centers 50lbs of clay is more than $200 cheaper than the =
other wheels I was looking at. Oh, and free shipping.

Any experiences with this wheel? Or should I just go with one of the =
others from my list?

Thanks,
Lajos

I spent a lot of time considering the different wheels and decided to go with
a Bailey. They are powerful and quiet. Good luck! Tonya in Louisville, KY

I bought this Bailey wheel over a year ago, it is performing well and the
cleanup is easy.

I loved it. I ordered it (the larger 1/2 horsepower - what the hell). I had not thought I could justify replacing my 18 year old Brent B since it works perfectly well. But the Bailey is so much more powerful, even though the motor is 1/4 horsepower and the Brent is 1/3. When I tried making a 10 pound platter on each wheel, the Brent slowed noticably with that amount of clay, whereas the Bailey had no problem at all. I also love the roominess in the splash pan - but I'm getting the one piece assembly that has even more room. You can keep your water bucket right in that area. I also recommend getting the wraparound shelf, which has room for any tools you might want to use.
