Hi Everyone,
=20
Last night I used my Intel Computer Microscope for a closer look at two =
clear glaze test tiles I was comparing, and was able to see crazing on =
one tile which I would have overlooked without it. This microscope has =
proven to be a very useful toy.... er... uh... tool!=20
Ok, ok, I admit to inspecting the inside of my nose, my ears, my eyes, =
my throat, etc.etc. Hey! It's fun! After Christmas I sent an email to =
a friend with an attachment....an image of my eyeball, contact lens =
visible floating on the surface of the cornea with a pattern I painted =
on it using Intel's accompanying paint program. My friend wrote back: =
"Your Santa rocks!"
What a great invention this Microscope is....I see people in the future =
sending images to their physicians and dentists, dermatologists and =
hairdressers....the downside would be the anxiety a school child might =
feel while looking at a head louse (from his own head) cavorting through =
tall fields of [his own] human hair. Oh well, there's always a price =
for progress.
I bought my microscope at TigerDirect.com. A good =
toy...ahem...Tool....at a good price.

Dear Carol Sandberg,

I have to agree with you. This is a great way to look at glazes. I =
needed to send a quick reply to one of the magazine editors to confirm I =
could include photos with a new article. To save delay while the slides =
are being processed I made a quick exposure with the QX3 on X10 of some =
macrocrystals and sent this of as a JPEG.

My dentist already has such a set up for looking at molars. His cost =
$6000. Image is a bit better than ours though.

Best regards,

Ivor.

I bought myself an Intel microscope for christmas, and found a fabulous
deal on ebay. This seller had the option to buy the microscope (in its
original packaging, not opened) for a fixed price of $65 before the
auction started, and this included s&h (I also bought a great little
digital scale this way). These microscopes retail at $80-120.

Though as with everything on ebay, check out your seller's ratings.
