I do not know what pottery tissue is, but have
seen dressmaking paper used. The sort which is
white or yellow and you run a wheel over it to
leave a "chalk mark" on the material.

I once saw Jim Romberg painting designs
with glazes on plain ol' newsprint. He
selected the best, and tore them out.
He then moistened the pot and stuck the
paper (glaze-side-down) to the pot. The
paper was then soaked away, leaving the
design stuck (in reverse) to the pot.
The result was spontaneous-looking
decoration, resulting from a careful
process of selection and placement.
