Cantello Studios on mon 5 feb 01
Hi Jeanie to answer your questions, it's a little of both. Sometimes I sit
and draw out what I'm going to make,
in doing so I'm also thinking about the glazes to use that will add to the
form, complete the form or
just enhance the form. A lot of what I think about in this process is coming
in flashes I see it in my minds
eye as it were. This is great of course but it can also set you up for
disappointment as well. There are also
pots that just sit there in varying states that are just waiting for me to
wake up or something. It's not that I have
lost interest in them. It's more like I can't see their finish state just
yet. I have been know to keep pots under
wraps for as long as 6 to 8 weeks. This of course would drive some potters
nuts but it's the way I like to
work on the big pots anyway. The small things I like to give them life as
well, I have a need to make them
become a comfort to the user, I tell people that that mug will soon be come
your favorite, if not bring it back.
I know this sounds pompous but most people just smile and think it's a sale
pitch. It's a little of both to be truthful.
I really do like to meet the people that buy my work and that's the only way
I have ever sold it up till now.
I hope this web thing work to some point, not really sure what point? But
I'm out there now, so hi clayart
people this is Cantello Studios
