Melinda:
You probably have Yellow Iron Oxide. My guess is that you cannot
expect much at the temperatures you are firing to if you use this
material in an Alkaline/Boron glaze because the glaze will tend to
"bleach out" the iron. I believe you will be more satisfied with the
results from the Yellow Iron if you use it in slips that are applied to
the greenware. You might try applying a glaze over these slips. I
believe the color will be more intense.

The work I am doing here on the crushed glass glazes indicate that
the yellow Iron would be almost totally useless as a colorant in the
form of a glaze stain or a colorant added to the glaze. It will
slightly warm the color of the glaze. If you are adding it to the
glaze I would suggest you start with more than 8% and plan to
work upwards from there.

It should be fine for Terra Sigs.
