Ok, I'll type until I get sleepy or I hear you guys sawing logs.
Just about everything I make is wheel thrown porcelain. I use a domestic
porcelain body and I've been also working with a grolleg body for the chuns
and blue celadons but that's another story. I decorate all the pots when
they are either wet or leather hard. I use mostly porcelain slips made
from the claybody recipe and for color I use mason satins and mineral
oxides or a combo of both. I spray on the larger background colors and
then do some brushwork and trailing over that. I bisque fire the pots and
then pour and dip the tenmokus and celadons and others and finish by
spraying the ashglazes. The ashglazes apply best for me by
spraying. Finally, the pots are fired to cone 10R in a propane fueled car
kiln. Sometimes I salt fire them but that's another post.
Thanx to all of you for looking at the Bluedome website and commenting
about the work. When you get a minute, go back to the bluedome and look at
some of the other potters. I think you'll like the work. If you are ever
in Silver City stop in and say Hi to John and Linda. Nice people with a
nice gallery. Linda does clay sculpture.
