shiny or matt tiles for the floor

I made a tile floor for myself a few years ago. It's in my office. Most of
the tiles are matt green with various colors for accent. One tile is a
shiny dark blue-green. In the center of the tile floor is a circular mosaic
with the accent colors. When I was showing the floor to some friends for the
first time, my excited and happy bassett hound, Sofia, came in to greet
them. She rolled over on the medallion and her big toenails scratched one of
the shiny blue-green tiles. I wouldn't use shiny tiles again because of
this. The floor has been down for almost four years now, my computer chair
rolls all over one section and so far the scratch on the one tile is the only
mishap.

I'm sure it didn't scratch because it was shiny. It must have been that the
formulation of the glaze just wasn't durable. I have many shiny tiles and dogs
claws do not scratch them at all.
