Chris--
I have a friend who swears by her portable Soldner. I've tried it, it's
great. She throws standing up and has the wheel on a platform that is
perfect for her height. No more worrying about the legs on Brents or
Shimpos...

Depending on how much clay you want to throw, it's fine.

I looked up the Soldner clamp-on wheel on Axner's web site.

.................................
CL50 (Clamp On)
Given this unique potter's wheel small size doesn't detract from it's
strength or ruggedness. It has a 1/6 HP permanent magnet motor giving it a
centering capacity of 50 lbs when mounted to the PDQ table or other sturdy
work surface, the same 14" aluminum wheel head, 2-pin bat system, and speed
controller as Soldner's other models. It is constructed with sealed ball
bearings and a heavy-duty pulley/V-belt drive. Can be used with a Brent
splash pan.

Other features include:
Portability: it can easily be transported for home or studio to classroom or
workshop thanks to light weight(42 lbs).

Shipping: meeting weight and dimensional requirements for UPS and air parcel
post, it can be shipped economically.

Flexibility: mounting to almost any table, it can be customized to meet it's
owners special applications, including wheelchair operation.

CL50
1/6 HP
50 lb centering capacity
List Price: $865.00
Axner Low Price: $820.00
