Hello All,

Here are a couple of product candidates for the "amazing" list. These are
products of Corning Company and detailed on their website at:

http://www.corning.com/environmentaltechnologies/products__services/

>It seems interesting that what makes clay dust so dangerious may be the
exact properties that makes ceramic filters of special significance. I wonder
also if ceramic filters may not be of special economic value because they can
be "back-flushed" and reused?

The Corning products include:

1.) ceramic substrates for automobile, bus and truck catalytic converters
2.) Particulate filters for removal of soot from diesel engine vehicle
exhaust
3.) Stationary Emissions
4.) Cellular ceramic catalyst supports for industrial emissions-control
systems
Other Solutions

=========== Here are the copied materials for ceramic membrane filters for liquid
filtration

Cellular ceramic filters for liquid filtration

Using proprietary separations technology, Corning
produces special ceramic membrane
filters that clarify, separate and decontaminate
liquids. These filters enable the
petrochemical, food and beverage processing, and
waste-water treatment industries to
meet liquid purity requirements.

Our membrane filters have proven to be rugged,
high-performance and cost-effective
in various applications, from fruit juice
clarification and filtration to the removal of oil
from wastewater streams. Their compact design
contributes to lower capital and
operating costs due to decreased piping, valving and
pumping requirements. Combined
with their low initial cost per square foot of
membrane area, this makes Corning
membrane systems less expensive to install and
operate than alternative ceramic and
many polymeric solutions.

Our membranes can withstand high operating
temperatures and are unaffected by
oxidants, organic or hydrocarbon solvents and steam.
They have low hold-up volumes
for both feed and permeate, minimizing losses or
valuable or time-sensitive fluids within
the filter assembly. Because of their ceramic
structure, these filters have a lifetime
expectancy of years rather than months.

Membrane filters purify liquid and air

We also manufacture membrane filters that are used
to clean the air. Currently, electric
utilities and industrial manufacturers use our
membrane filters to remove particulate
matter from exhaust-gas emissions.

Hello All,

One more ceramic "amazing thing".

Maybe this is related to the "business card" product that
somebody mentioned?

Also from the Corning Site:

THIN SHEETS:

Zinc Borosilicate (0211)
Available in sheets from .002" up to .017"

At 0.002 Inch thick it must be "flexible"?

I wonder how they handle it? How they ship it?
