I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox.
I do not like them in a house.
I don not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere.
I do not like green tea and bowls.
I do not like them this I knows.
You do not like them.
So you say.
Try them! Try them!
And you may!
Try them and you may, I say.

Well. I do not agree at all with the original poster that we all make
teabowls and we all love teabowls.
I do not make them, I do not love them, in fact, I do not even like =
them.
Teabowls have no bearing on my life, in any way. I do not drink tea, I =
have
no particular reverence - real or fake - for ancient Japanese culture =
and
customs - no more than the reverence I have for anything historic. My =
making
a teabowl would be phony and absurd. My buying a teabowl would be only
slightly less so.
However, I did contemplate asking artimator about the prices of his
teabowls, not because I want one, but because I want to know what he =
would
charge for them. So, arti, willing to speak up on this one?

I love all you guys.....you just gotta keep my yap flappin, doncha?
Phony, absurd???....What can you make that is not?.....Ahhh, I have =
alittle Scottish blood, how bout I make whiskey bowls?....would that be =
phony?.....Chocolate cups?....Alas I'm not chocolate =
either....hmmmm....coffee containers?.....loose change =
consolidators?....Don't get much loose change so I guess that would be =
phony in your eyes.....Mel said David didn't have to make =
teabowls....you don't either.....Mel said also that potters can and do =
make anything they damn well please....What is absurd to you has a long =
history with me....You see I'm on a mission from god....I'm going to =
convert all you handle hanger-oners to my way ...."the Righteous and =
Correct way of Imbibing"
When you guys are hanging on to your handles....how do you tell if =
the stuff inside is hot or cold?....With your lips?.....Ouch
On a cold winter morning does your sterile handle give you any =
comfort like the textured surface of my teabowls?
Do you sometimes find yourself holding your coffee by the (gasp) =
cup and not the handle?
(repeat)When you drink do you hold the cup a couple inches from =
your mouth so you can totally avoid any interaction with the contents??
Do all your designs have a big unrelated appendage unbalancing the =
whole composition and disrupting the gestalt experience?
Do you have 20 cups in your cupboard?(I have 200)
Do the broken handles send buyers back to you for more?
Do the handles not fit in your car's cup holder resulting in =
spilled coffee every morning?
Is all your work contrived and planned and fretted over?
Do you just like pulling handles and can't find any better, =
cleaner, more classical form to disrupt?
Are you hoping that the clean, classical form will overpower the =
handle and somehow disguise your obsession
Are you a hunchback?=20
OK, now you hanger-oners convince me.....Why do I need a big =
dumbass(need a definition?) handle on my drinking form?
I don't own any of those phony drinking forms with absurd, useless, =
contrived handles, and I sure don't buy them....(aside)what is really =
absurd is my sister foisting them on me at Christmas time(another =
story).....Some people just don't get it
Teabowls(whatever....Definitely not pansy teacups Tony(Not to say =
Brits are pansy...Teacups are a tradition there)(reset)Teabowls are an =
extremely powerful form....They are tied into the entire history of =
ceramics(what a Story)....Huge meaning that must be packed into a 3" X =
3" X 3" space....Designs must be minimized(very important concept) and =
yet fully resolved....Design possibilities are unlimited......What would =
you do when your canvas is restricted to 3" ...They are fully able to =
develop long lasting daily attachment to human beings.....Teabowls are =
the original ceramic problem?....Do I drink out of my hand?.. or =
this?.....Powerful stuff....Going in to make some easy teabowls(so I =
don't have to pull handlesHEHEHEHE) often leads to sweat on the forehead =
and lots of prayer, lots of prayers answered(love that line)...and the =
realization that potters do indeed give a little piece of their soul =
with each piece....If a potter doesn't make teabowls(American English) =
they don't make anything.
As for my price.....The Logan Tribute bowls are not for sale....I =
do have about 1000 others(all different) that you can have for $50 =
each.......I often give them away as calling cards in hope that the =
great unwashed will experience the real thing and come begging for =
something more substantial
Also, for $100 dollars cash I will let you follow me around and =
watch me work.....better yet; watch me live.....you can sleep on the =
couch and maybe get some of Gloria's GOOD cooking served up to you on =
Kickass pottery....And check out the 12+(always+) roses in the =
handcarved vase!
