Tony
If the definition of ceramic materials is:
how the materials respond to the affects
of heat.
Would it be fair to call raku:
fire damaged ceramics?

I think I will go crawl back
into my grove

I tried once, did not succeed. In V.C.'s book there is kind of halo slip
Pipenburg writes too about this slip.I cannot help more than this because
the books are in the studio far from here.
There is another technique of using the gas torch to make spots, if I
understand correctly to make kind of reducted spots at some parts on the
ware kind of peacock tail

Hi Karen,
Fire damaged ceramics as a definition for raku is not fair for
those who view their work as visual art versus some sort of instant
gratification in firing functional forms. I prefer fire enhanced ceramics.
Just one of many methods to create beautiful things from clay, and the risk
involved is one of life's simple pleasures. No pain, no gain. Scott
