Dear Will and other Rosenrot tryers,
I was looking for greens and tried Rosenrot with these adjustments.
I took out the tin and used other opacifiers to avoid any pinks, which
I know defeats the idea of this receipe, to achieve chrome/tin pink. But =
the =
green result was all right for my purpose. I needed a dark green with no
blues
or lighter nuances. =
Original receipe:
15 3134
15 Neph. Sye =
37 Flint
16 Whiting
15 EPK
2 Strontium Carb.
Fired on white, mid range stoneware to 1220c oxidation.
William's statement - I am actually very proud you did do this Alisa. I =
also
see some other colors that can be just as great as the original Rosenrot =
red
as I wrote it. Today I pulled from 2 different kilns several articles whe=
re my
students had used the Rosenrot ^6 on about 4 clay bodies. The red we got =
was
intense and blood red. (Our kilns were also both loaded with White tin gl=
azes
and no pinks showed up) I thought that was an x-tra nice surprize!
It appears that Rosenrot improves with some time like a good wine. =
The clays used were Laguna B-mix 5-7, 378 speckled stone ware. and #182
Standard as well as Lizella. All were extremely red and all were without =
a
blemish. Now for those who insist they can't get this color thats all rig=
ht.
Take and use the base for another color you like and see if it works for =
you!
Or try 5% Tin Oxide and up to 0.50% or 1/2% Green Chromium Oxide. Make ce=
rtain
you get your measure right!
I never make a claim that my glazes are made for food bearing surfaces. I=
do
have all my work lab tested when I choose to use them in a way that might=
be
in contact with food. =
Please remember that my assistant named Veronika is the one who came up w=
ith
the name. She is Austrian/German. I liked the name and thus it stuck.
Veronika's husband is in serious condition right now with a aorta about t=
o
rupture so any energy and prayers you send would be greatly appreciated.

Alchemy 101 - Artimator can I borrow a few snakes so I can indulge on
occasion? Take care man, your work is what you are. Its like the f=
ood
we eat. We are a part of everything we do, so do it the best you can and =
be
proud. After all indulgence while handeling snakes sounds like dangerous =
fun.
:)

Original receipe:

37 Flint
16 Whiting

2 Strontium Carb.
Fired on white, mid range stoneware to 1220c oxidation.
1. change:
15 local frit
15 Neph. Sye
27.4 Flint
18.56 Wollastonite
15 EPK
2 Stontium carb.
ADD
6 Zircopax
0,5 Chrome oxide
Resulted in a deep, mossy green gloss, even, stable and covering.
2. change:
same
ADD
6 Zinc. oxide
0,5 Chrome oxide
Resulted in almost the same as above, but green not as deep or covering.
However, the same surface and stability.
I liked these tests because it is a very earthy, warm green. =20
Best regards,
