David,

For storage, I use a slide box from Light Impressions (800-828-6216) called
"Photo Archive for Slides". It's a hinged box with a tight fitting lid and
inside it are little bins that hold 20-25 slides, total storage in each box
is about 600 slides. There is an index sheet that fits inside the lid.
They come in colors, so I use one color for my artwork slides and a
different color for my field archaeology slides.

They are a bit pricy, about 30 bucks each, but it helps keep me organized,
the slides are all in one place and dust free. I have no affiliation with
the company other than as a customer.

I also set up a database in my computer with title, date made, price,
dimensions, and a short description. Other fields contain the customer's
name, where the piece was shown and the slide box and bin number. I'm
using Microsoft Works which enables me to sort on any field. I keep a
separate database for a mailing list.
