Dear Fellow Clay Arters,
We are getting a big Bailey kiln (48/31 I think it is called, 4,000
pounds). It is being shipped to Louisville, Kentucky via Yellow
Freight. From there we must have it shipped by a smaller carrier to our
concrete slab in the woods about 50 miles from Louisville. It must be
removed from the truck and then placed in its proper place on the
concrete slab.
My questions: 1. Are there any of you, out there in Clay Arts, who
have had experience with this (whether or not in the Louisville area)?
2. Are there any of you you have had experience setting up and firing
one of these babies?
I've been firing a 12 cu ft Olympic updraft for 25 years and it scares
me to death to think about the enormity of this change. It is also
EXCITING!
I've heard that Bailey is really good about helping with the details,
but also wanted input from you all.
Thanks kindly,
Jean Wadsworth Cochran
