"Maybe this will happen when it becomes more
commonplace i.e. cheaper for digital images to
be made into slides?"

As much as i agree it would be great if the price of digital images to
slides would decrease, I'll go one further. It would be great to see
galleries, show coordinators, grad schools, etc. call for entries in an
electronic format. We could send a disk or even email a group of
"slides". Images can be viewed from a computer screen by a group of
people as they can from a slide projector.

As much as I support your suggestion in theory,
it is going to be some time before both
galleries and artists/makers will be in a
position to do this. Many artists/makers do not
have access to a digital camera and/or scanner,
nor the necessary image software. Indeed, many
more do not have a PC/Mac to start with, so they
would all be excluded from this method of
submitting images.

I have a terrible time trying to extract good
quality slides and photos off exhibitors, never
mind digital images and most of the
artists/makers I work with will not have
anything to do with this new technology.
Primarily, because it is just too expensive, but
also because they deem it unnecessary. They
think I am wierd... Yes, well... :-)

But I do think they will soon be forced to
follow where others first dared to tread... I
know I find it increasing difficult and totally
tedious dealing with paper and conventional
means of communication.
