I picked these lines from another letter because the way they appear here, I
would never work with a software or glazing at all!
I work with Insight about two years
For me it is more than a calculating program, but an instrument to refresh
my mind!
The news, here are terrible, and the most of T.V. programs are shallow.
Insight is a good solution (clayArt too) Converting your recipes to my
materials, adjusting glazes and so on.
My education is very limited. I did not learn in a fool program ceramics,
and even did not finish high school.
I use Insight. I use the Seger, unity formula, I can see the result and
predict pretty good if the glaze will work the way I want to. I am not sure
what is exactly mol,but I glaze pretty good. It takes time to read and
understand all the numbers. (Mole percent, limit formulas expansion,Si;al
etc! Only the cost I understood from the beginning!)
You fill good with the unity, ignore the %mol or the other way.
I use almost always the unity formula, and feel good with it.Only when I
feel stuck, I try the other way.
One advantage of the mol% is the including of the B2O3 in the flux.
Although, that using the limit table, includes it.
A small advise
After firing take the test tiles to the computer and compare glaze results,
AND PLAN WITH THEM THE NEXT TEST.
(I do it usually with the raku glazes and that's why my home stinks now!)
Ababi the Insight's eddicted both meanings)
