My Ohaus is some 50 years old and does great.

So what can you do. Us Dinosaur Potters (Mel, are you one?) stick to the
Old Folk Ways and together.

I do not think new scales will do anything much. It's kind of interesting
how many people swear by tools in pottery when for thousands of years,
the eyes, hand etc did perfectly well.

And in my experience A LOT of glazes do swell/rotten in a test kiln,
better/wonderfully/worse in big kilns. Especially the real biggies
especially in fuel fired ones. So: I make two test tiles for each test.
Fire one in test kiln; if that is halfway promising fire second with one
of my regular galze kilns.

And I make a test for any glaze with any material just bought/brought into
studio. Our m,aterials are mined. Mine runs vary....
