Dear Friends:
I have copied an announcement from Hobby Ceramicraft for a seminar
John Hohenshelt, Jr. is teaching May 26 - 27, 2001. I hope you can
make it.

Paragon
This year Hobby Ceramicraft is once again hosting the Paragon
Factory Seminar. An absolute must for any serious kiln owner. If
your business depends on a kiln, you need this course. Designed for
everyone, from the lady terrified of electricity, to the guy who
'knows all about these things', (or thinks he does!).
Paragon's course lifts the mist, starting off with "What is a
Watt?" and takes you through step by simple step into how
electricity transforms a steel box of bricks into the tool which so
effortlessly performs the magic of transforming your pieces into
ceramic masterpieces. Well, O.K., we cannot actually bring you the
whole factory to England, but we do the next best thing. We bring
John Hohenshelt, Jr., the owner of the world's leading kiln
company, over from their plant in Dallas, Texas, to present the
same seminar which would otherwise cost you $150, plus a massive
expense in air fare, accommodation and time. At the very least you
will go away knowing how your kiln works, how to get the best out
of it, how to easily and safely carry out routine maintenance.
When an element goes, or a thermocouple fails, instead of having to
wait days or weeks for an expensive service call, you could be up
and running in minutes, or maybe an hour. The knowledge you gain on
how to track down faults and rectify them, even down to completely
rebuilding a kiln, is invaluable in keeping your business running,
and can make the task of selling kilns a simple and lucrative extra
for you. Talking of lucrative, servicing other people's Paragon
kilns in your area can be a very good profit earner, as well as
building your reputation for knowledge and service.
Your teaching will cover all the sizes and types of ceramic kilns
we sell, from Kiln Sitters to computer controlled, and will cover
pyrometric cones, how to use a multimeter, factors in installing a
kiln, and if you want it, a wealth of in depth detailed
information.
The two day seminar fee of £99 includes a manual, all tuition, and
light lunch on both days. (You can even ask questions about Duncan
kilns if you wish when Hobby Ceramicraft is not looking, Paragon
manufactures parts and provides full support for all the Duncan
range).
For the cost of just one service call, out and one days lost firing
earnings, you can gain invaluable knowledge which will serve you
well for years to come. You also then qualify for a discount on all
Paragon service parts supplied by Hobby Ceramicraft. As most of our
customers are "twosomes", why not one take the kiln seminar whilst
the other is doing the ceramics classes. Contemporary studios with
our kilns should seriously consider sending a permanant staff
member to learn how to be responsible for the kilns. Guests from
abroad are welcome, we are easy access from London's air and
seaports. As numbers may have to be limited, we need to have your
booking reservation early please to avoid disappointment.
We can only get our hands on Paragon for this unique event at about
two year intervals, miss this and you will have to go to Texas!

Going to Dallas is not a problem. This sounds great and would gladly drive
to Dallas for it. Can you send information for me here in Texas? I am
poised to buy a larger kiln and am in the process of research right now.
Thanks!
