Your points re starting motors under load are taken.
As my old Venco is pulley & belt driven I suspect
the load is reduced by belt stretch & takeup.
Same switch for 17 years. The Mono pump for the filter press
also starts up under load, cuts in at 65 PSI in the pressure vessel,
runs to 125 PSI, cuts out again. It is also belt & pulley driven.
