I have been trying to get a copy of this glaze recipe - I know it
was in ClayTimes Jan/Feb 99 issue, but I don't have copies that
far back. I have tried the libraries, but they don't even carry
the magazine! Does anyone have it?
Thanks,
Katherine

I had already tried the archives, and it is not there. One member of the community
was kind enough to email offlist with the recipe. My thanks.

Hi Katherine!
Here's the glaze you are looking for. It was developed by Bob Witt who
teaches at Griffith High Scool in Indiana, and was included in an
article by Lana Wilson, entitled "Some New & Unusual Glazes" in the
Jan/Feb '99 issue of Clay Times.
Witt Electric Raku
Cone 04 Oxidation
Copper Carbonate 4 Parts
Kaolin 2 Parts
Bentonite 1/2 Part
"After firing the glaze to cone 04, it is torched with an acetylene
torch to produce raku peacock feather colors. A fine point flame
produces dramtically better results."
"Overall heating of the piece -first in a kiln or with the torch-will
prevent cracking"
Good Luck!
