The Carbondale Clay Center in Carbondale, Colorado is pleased to announce a
summer workshop, "Pots That Speak," featuring visiting artist Nancy Barbour.

August 13-18, 2001 (Monday-Saturday)

Carbondale Clay Center, 135 Main St., Carbondale, Colo.

Subject: Pots that Speak; Altering and Decorating to personalize your
pots. The focus will be on throwing and handbuilding techniques combined
with surface decoration. "We will create Cone 10 soda-fired wares that
reflect personal experiences and stories. Come share some of your stories
with us."

Participants will bring bisqueware for a soda firing early in the week and
will make pots the rest of the week.

Nancy Barbour is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the Carbondale Clay
Center where she teaches and works. She makes thrown and altered
functional vessels with carved and painted surfaces. After receiving her
MFA from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Nancy spent two years as
an Artist-in-Residence at the Mendocino Art Center on the coast of Northern
California Nancy recently received an award of merit for her work in the
"Ceramics 2001" show at Guildford Handcraft Center.

Workshop Cost: $325. Includes one soda firing and 50 lbs of clay.
