I have witnessed this in friends and one of them
referred to it as the "Leach Lurch"

Is it that bobbing and ducking sort of thing that we do
when we're throwing and trimming--that looking at the inside and the outside
back and forth?

""...I don't think it makes work slightly "off centre"... ""

I've not been following this thread
but rather iandol instead...

I believe that the nod would
be indicative of a trance or hypnotic
state induced by the rythem of the wheel.
This certainly will bring one into a space of the creative.
But I feel at some point a diminishing would return
and from my own comprehension
of what is happening...
shake it off
I think it would lead to a "cul de sac"
This hypnotic state would
be useful as a springboard to move into more awareness
rather than less.
initially focusing energy but ultimately
limiting possibility...
this is only my assumption
you are the only test of compulsion>?
I can't say
what you experience in play.
test it out in clay
it a beautiful day
by the way.
