Barbara,
You've gotten lots of good advice about firing your kiln, with the most
important being read the manual before you do anything. I'd like to add that
your first firing should be with the kiln empty - it's the best way to advoid
mistakes. I'd hate to see you damage a load of your pots. Also, get some
witness cones. The first time I fired my kiln with work in it I over fired
it. Everything melted - what a mess! Kilnsitters are not foolproof, and I
don't totally trust the digital controllers either.
Also, where do you live? Maybe a member of the list lives nearby and could
come over and walk you through kiln firing. We're a nice group - it doesn't
hurt to ask.

In LA now but in Charlotte soon - can't wait! Are there any cyber cafes near
the conference? I don't want to go into internet withdrawal.
