On Friday I posted a msg asking if anyone had found interesting >6 glaze
variations using the base glaze known as 5 X 20. I did not receive any
reply. Mel says the network was down, and 24 hours of messages were lost.
If anyone answered please repost your reply.
The Canadian company listing the glaze formula is:

Dear John:
Being an AOL user I loose posts, so I found this link to be very helpful,
since it mimics a regular days postings but of course it is like a day old
bread so I only use it on days like Friday and Saturday when I received very
few posts, I hope that helps you find the posts you are looking for.

Hello, John.
The 5x20 glaze is more stable than interesting. However, here goes:
Add 7% Zircopax for a semi-opaque white which shows nice speckles on my
brown clay.
Add 4% Copper Oxide for a translucent green which I have not tested, but
which stands up well under vinegar and taste testing. Probably not
commercially viable, but suitable for my small personal green needs.
Replace 10% of the EPK with 10% brown clay from my back yard. Add 7% RIO, 2%
Rutile, 1.5% crude iron oxide for a tan which, when fairly thin, shows
blushes of iron blue and brown.
Tony has suggestions for colors on his 5x20 site, which are a good place to
start.

John,
Can't answer your question except that I wanted to let you know we have been
getting carbon trapping with the Hansen clear. I hesitate to say this because
the ^6 gas kiln is at The Clay Studio and is fired by someone else. They have
been getting a lot of reduction early but I can't be more specific than that.
Too much carbon on the shino for my taste but some nice accents on the Hansen
clear.
