In NC, liquor is sold by the Alcoholic Beverages Commission or
ABC, so if you want to buy some Scotch, you will want to ask for
the nearest "ABC store". ABC stores are not open late (I think
they close at 7 pm) so you have to plan ahead. Beer and wine are
sold in grocery stores, convenience stores (beer), and specialty
wine stores. Beer, wine, and mixed drinks are served in
restaurants. You can't buy alcoholic beverages of any kind before
noon on Sundays. As far as liquor in hotel rooms, I don't have any
details.

I will qualify all that by saying that the laws differ somewhat from
county to county, with some counties still completely dry, I believe,
while others don't serve alcohol in restaurants. I don't know for
sure about Charlotte, but somehow I would guess that it's laws
would be on the more liberal end.

for a summary of liquor laws.

streets 2001 is a nice map program, it lists thongs of interest besides the
freeway exit you request, everything from doctors offices, parks, public
trans, eataries, pubs.
it list 19 bars and 150 dinning establishments within a mile radious of
the adams mark, i think the wors tpossible scenerio for drinks is by them at
the bar and drink alittle less but i think theres plenty available for
consumption sakel.
