Howdy. Just installed a new set of elements in the bottom of my Paragon =
A99b. (***ok, hold your applause to the end) Thought I'd turn 'em =
on and try the 'light a newspaper trick' to see if they were working. =
Before they heated up enough to light my paper, they started to smoke a =
little, and be very smelly. I figure there's some coating on the wire =
that is burning off, but just wanted to check with the gurus before I =
burn my house down.....So is this normal? It'll burn off in the first =
firing, etc.?

Tanks in advance!!!!

Got the same reaction from my new elements on the first firing. After a
half an hour or less the smell and slight smoke was gone. Laura
