I had booked a room at the HOliday Inn, which I am now NOT going to use
because another friend has given us her room at the Adams Mark. E-me off
list for details.

In the past, when I have had to cancel a room at the conference site, I
advertised it on Clayart and changed the name to whomever desired the room.
This way you are helping out another clay person. If you just cancel the
room it will probably go for a higher rate to someone outside of the
conference and the hotel will profit from this.

Hello,
A friend and I have decided at the last minute to go to NCECA. Can anybody
tell me where I might book a room for a couple of nights? I know it is
probably too late to get a room in one of the hotels where the conference is
being held, but a hotel/motel that is close by would be great. I also need
the web address for NCECA . Thanks in advance to anyone with any
information. tj

Log on to http://www.travelocity.com.
You can zero in on downtown Charlotte, and it will tell
you what m/hotels have rooms available and at what price.
You can see on a map how far way they are.
If you have a car, there are plenty of rooms within 5 miles
of downtown.
Last month, there were still several choices right downtown,
including Travelodge, 4 blocks from the Omni, and Days Inn,
6 or 7 blocks away, for very reasonable rates, but these might
be full by now.
Find NCECA at http://www.nceca.net/
There is also a list of hotels on the website.

Hello. Millie from Baltimore Clayworks forwarded your query to me as I was
looking to room with several female potters for NCECA. I have not booked my
accommodations yet, but will soon. TO find the NCECA website, just do a
search in a search box, typing in: NCECA 2001. The main website was listed
first in the results. The theme of the conference is "Evolving Legacies".
Once you are in the NCECA main site, you can scroll down and find their
hotel suggestions. Click on it and a page full of suggested hotel/motels
are listed, with address, phone and price. I am going to stay in an
off-site motel the first night and go check in at the NCECA conference, post
a note to see if anyone wants a roommate to help split hotel costs for the
rest of the nights, etc. I am female, age 44, potter since 1973, off and
on. I plan to drive down from Virginia (7 hr drive) on Tuesday afternoon.
If you are interested in calling me, my home phone is (703)391-5048. Millie
had reserved a block of rooms at the Omni but I did not know anyone to share
one with.

rumor has it, its too late to get the nceca rate for a hotel, but perhaps if
you plead it will work. as far as i know hte adams mark and the omni are
full, or thats what they said when asked about adding another room to my
list of two, uh, the marriot had rooms, i believe the nceca price is about
115 but the regular is like 150 ish.
best luck.

Please contact me if you are interested in a room at the conference site. I
will be canceling two room reservations in the next few days and I suspect
the hotel will take them out of the NCECA block and raise the rates at that
time if I do not personally change the reservation.
