Hi All,
For those of you near the D.C.area(or planning to visit in the next
few months):
I went to the opening of the USA Clay exhibit at the Renwick on
Friday. It's fabulous! All of the work is by contemporary clay
artists - sculptural and functional, famous and not-so-famous
artists. There was an effort made to include work by D.C.-area
ceramists. And it's displayed beautifully. I happened to show up
just before the "Meet the Artists" gallery talk - several of the
artists (Wayne Higby, Karen Koblitz and about 5 others) took us on
a tour of the show and discussed their pieces.

They also have a great "Touch Cart", with pieces sent in by the
artists, ranging from fragments dinnter plates to complete (but
slightly damaged) teapots, to test tiles. One potter even sent
some trimming tools with a note about how he uses them!

There are a series of interesting lectures coming up. Some
highlights:
Sun.Mar.18 3PM: Don Reitz slide lecture
Sun.May 13 3PM: Andrea Gill
Sun.Jun 10 3PM: Michael Sherrill
Sat.Apr.28 10AM: "California Clay" panel with Ron Nagle and others
Sun.Apr.22 1PM: "Clay Today" hands-on Family Day

There's also a series of three lecture/demos on The Art of the
Useful Container, and other lecture/gallery tours.

The exhibit runs through July 15th.

It's Friday, I have two clients on Saturday, and I am exhausted. On
Sunday, I am going to curl up and hibernate. Have fun listening to Don
Reitz. Thanks for letting me know about him being in town.

You will receive the announcement about the store.
