wax resist tip

After you add handles to mugs, wait a few hours until the mug and handle are
not shinny and are at about the same stage of dryness. Paint wax resist on
the joint and the handle. This will slow the drying on the extended clay,
reducing the risk of separation or cracking. I also paint the seam of pots
thrown in sections and any small addition of clay that looks like it will
dry more quickly than the base. My studio is drafty and the
temperature/moisture level varies in any given day. This tip has saved many
pots for me.
